Laying the cornerstone - Sept. 10, 2006

On Sunday, September 10, 2006, the congregation of Yorkminster Presbyterian Church closed their 10:45 AM worship service with the placement of the cornerstone to the new Fellowship Center. A time capsule was placed in the block, containing several items of historic interest.

Construction of Fellowship Center Building

Construction of the Fellowship Center foundation began with the undercutting of 14" of soil, followed by backfilling with 400 cubic yards of sand. This will give the new building a firm, dry, stable foundation. Next, the concrete piers were poured, and forms were placed for the footings along all sides of the eventual slab. Conduits were placed in the foundation slab for future plumbing, electrical and communications lines. The integrated foundation and slab were poured on March 2nd; more photos of 'concrete day' are here. Further construction events are outlined on the building time lapse page.

Construction of Settlement Pond

Construction of the first part of the new driveway and the settling pond began in early December and was completed on January 26. More images of the pond construction sequence are available on the pond time lapse page.

Groundbreaking - Nov. 13, 2005

On Sunday, November 13, 2005, Co-pastors Jenny and Feild Russell led a groundbreaking ceremony with close to 200 church members and invited guests, who helped turn over the first dirt for our new site!
