Handbell Choirs

The mission of all the handbell and chime choirs at Yorkminster is to develop our ringing talents and use them to praise God.  Yorkminster offers 4 handbell and chime choirs - there is a place for you in one of them.

  • Carillon Ringers - The Carillon Ringers are a full handbell choir ringing on 4 ½ octaves of Schulmerich Handbells and Suzuki Tonechimes. They rehearse during the school year on Thursday (7:00 - 8:30 p.m.) and help lead worship 4-6 times a year. They attend the Spring AGEHR Festival and other handbell concerts and events.  Open by audition to adults and senior high youth.
  • Genesis Bells -  The Genesis Bells practice on Tuesdays 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Handbell room.  This group is open to all youth and adults.  Come ring a joyful noise with us.  Contact Gary or Diane Short for more information.
  • Children's Chime Choir - For children in grades 3 - 5. They practice on Wednesday evening from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the Handbell room during the school year. They typically help in worship several times during the year. No musical experience required - the children will be taught how to read music and make beautiful music as a team. It is a fun way to learn to ring!
