Child-Friendly Events throughout the Year
Mission Projects
Throughout the year, YPC offers children meaningful projects to help others, from prepping meals for the hungry to collecting items for the less fortunate. As each project draws closer, information about the project is included in our weekly email and Sunday bulletin.
Easter Egg Hunt
On Easter Sunday, children are invited to participate in an Easter Egg Hunt immediately after worship. Bags are provided for children to collect eggs, and then the hunt begins! Children are divided up based on age and taken outside (or to an indoor hunting space, if weather intervenes) to search for eggs.
Vacation Bible School
Each summer Yorkminster offers a week-long program that teaches children about God and his love for them through songs, games, crafts, and many other exciting activities.
Trunk or Treat
Our church hosts a fun Halloween event, usually the Friday night prior to October 31. Children from infants to 5th grade are invited to wear their costumes and meet in Covenant Hall. Inside we offer games, food and a costume parade. Afterward, all of the children are invited outside where church members have parked and decorated their cars. The children go to each car trunk to get a Halloween treat.
Advent Event
On the first Sunday afternoon in Advent, families are invited for a special Advent Celebration. This inter-generational event includes crafts, songs, and musical worship that help us to focus our hearts and minds on the coming celebration of Christ's birth.
Fall and Spring Festivals
These fellowship events follow worship and include a potluck lunch, usually accompanied by bounce houses, games and live music.
Fellowship Lunches/Dinners
The congregation frequently gathers for lunch or dinner in Covenant Hall. Lunches are usually after Sunday worship, dinners typically are held on Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
